ATV showed interest in the launch of our exercise package at the UZA on 23 February 2024. Watch the wonderful report here.
Suitable for all ages, as differentiated exercises are offered.
The movement case aims to improve the mental well-being of patients, but above all to get the sick back to moving. After all, exercise is very important in the healing process, but unfortunately not always possible. Patients cannot go to a sports club, they often stay in hospital, have fewer social contacts and therefore do not exercise enough. This is why the non-profit association SuperNils came up with this suitcase full of different materials to perform simple and feasible movements. Movements that are possible within the safe walls of the hospital room. Everything, both the materials and the exercises, were discussed with physiotherapists at the hospital, AZ Delta Roeselare. After all, we don't want to hand out wrong things, we're not going to put patients at risk!
In addition to the materials, the box also contains cards with text and photos explaining what you can do with the materials (similar to the fit-o-meter). These cards can also be found on this webpage. For the children, we even provide a video in which our mascot SuperNils demonstrates the movements. It is certainly not a competition! You do the exercises when you feel like it and are physically able to do so. And if you are having a bad day, just leave everything in the box. Everything is allowed, but nothing is mandatory. Always listen carefully to your own body and, of course, to the doctors and nurses.
The movements are good for the body, but they are also mentally supportive. You spend some time with your body and therefore do not think about the worries of every day. This mental calm is positive for the healing process.
EVALUATION: Children can use the star chart, to indicate which exercises they really like and which ones they like a bit less. That way we find out which exercises we might be better off replacing with something new. For the adults, there is an evaluation sheet that can be filled in. In this way, everyone helps to further develop and optimise the movement box. The star charts and evaluation sheets can be filled in on paper (see in the box) OR digitally (see on the website www.supernils.be).
Have fun with the motion box!
