Page for children (up to 12 years)
Exercise is hugely important, even when you are ill. For children with a serious illness, however, this is not always obvious. They feel weak, often lie in isolation in their rooms, unable to go to the sports club or just to the park to exercise.
This often makes them stay in their beds and watch TV. Of course that is allowed, especially if you are not feeling so well.
Nevertheless, non-profit organisation SuperNils wants to continue motivating children to move, even if it is just a little bit. Every movement can make them feel better and can support the healing process. Therefore, together with physiotherapists from the hospital (AZ Delta Roeselare), we developed a movement kit, with various materials linked to a number of simple movements, which you can do in your room, some even from your bed.
Always listen carefully to your body and the doctors. If you feel you can't do it, wait a day before starting. Also, build up your movements slowly. Don't try too much at once. Let your body get used to light exercise again. That way, you will feel better and your body can regain some strength.
Have fun with our movement case (order it from nurses, physiotherapists or educators).
