Move along with SuperNils

Page for children (up to 12 years)

Exercise is hugely important, even when you are ill. For children with a serious illness, however, this is not always obvious. They feel weak, often lie in isolation in their rooms, unable to go to the sports club or just to the park to exercise.
This often makes them stay in their beds and watch TV. Of course that is allowed, especially if you are not feeling so well.
Nevertheless, non-profit organisation SuperNils wants to continue motivating children to move, even if it is just a little bit. Every movement can make them feel better and can support the healing process. Therefore, together with physiotherapists from the hospital (AZ Delta Roeselare), we developed a movement kit, with various materials linked to a number of simple movements, which you can do in your room, some even from your bed.
Always listen carefully to your body and the doctors. If you feel you can't do it, wait a day before starting. Also, build up your movements slowly. Don't try too much at once. Let your body get used to light exercise again. That way, you will feel better and your body can regain some strength.
Have fun with our movement case (order it from nurses, physiotherapists or educators).

Movement sheets

On this page you will find all the sheets, which are also in the movement case. They explain which movements you can do, with the various materials.
Explanations are given with words, but also via two pictures.

If you want to keep moving at home too, you can! Alternatives are also offered on the sheets for most of the materials, so you can get started without a movement kit as well.

You can then find the explanation on this page!

Movies

To make it all a bit more fun AND clearer for our youngest children, SuperNils also does the moves in different videos. So you can just move along with your Super Hero.

Nice right?

Star map

In the movement case, you will also find a star chart. On it, you can enter how many stars you give each movement. That way we know which movements you like best. And movements you don't like so much we can then maybe replace with other exercises later on.
That way, you help make the case better. Nice right!

Hand over your completed star chart to the nurse or educator(s). They will then pass everything on to SuperNils.

Even easier ... enter your star chart via computer or smartphone. That way the star charts will automatically arrive at SuperNils.
