Nils Scheltjens from Kalmthout wanted to help other cancer patients. He himself died of leukaemia two years ago. By then he had cancer for the third time. To further their son's wish, his parents have now set up a non-profit organisation: SuperNils.

A stunning article in the Latest News of 12 December 2018. Article was written by Sabine Vermeiren, after a more than three-hour-long, highly emotional interview.

Nils had been cured of leukaemia twice. Then came the third time and his body was exhausted. One wish he still had. He wanted to make cancer more bearable for all those who would get the disease after him. Two years after Nils' death - thanks to his parents - that wish is coming true: already at UZ Gent, cancer patients will get 'better feeling bags' next year. "Executing that will, at first I couldn't do it. Now it's part of my processing."

Nice articles in the Latest News, written by reporter Fien Tondeleir. She also provides beautiful magazine sponsorship for our SuperNils Day 2.0 for adults.

One day after the first SuperNils day organised at the UZ Gent (children's hospital Prinses Elisabeth), a nice article appeared in Het Laatste Nieuws and the Nieuwe Gazet. The start of the SuperNils fund GE_785 also received due attention here. Worth reading ...

THE KRANT It was his idea, to make the little children he saw every day in hospital forget their pain with 'better feeling bags' full of toys and distractions. Unfortunately, Nils Scheltjens from Kalmthout never got to play St Nicholas himself: he died on 11 October 2016, after being diagnosed with leukaemia for the third time. Robert and Leona fulfilled their son's wish yesterday.

NEWS: 10/01/2022

On Monday 10 January 2022, Robert Scheltjens (chairman) and Leona Koninckx (general management manager) again went to UZ Gent, UZ Antwerpen and KLINA Brasschaat to give the patients of the haematology departments a nice day. On the birthday of Nils (who would have turned 30 today!), the patients of these three hospitals received a nice goodie bag, filled with a warm fleece blanket from SuperNils, a magazine from DPG Media, a voucher for one month's free magazine reading from Roularta and some care products from pharmacist Verpraet from Heide-Kalmthout (and its suppliers). All that complemented by some nice SuperNils gadgets and postcards with information about the podcast and two fun art activities.

People were super satisfied again, that's for sure.

Nice was also that we got coverage in Het Laatste Nieuws, as you can read below ... Thanks to Sabine Vermeiren, journalist at DPG-Media, for making this possible.
