Nilspire Me ... the web application for young adults with cancer
Vzw SuperNils had the honour of presenting its very latest project "Nilspire Me" at Sciensano's AYA Symposium in Brussels. In a short one-minute pitch, we introduced the project to the attendees. Afterwards, everyone could come and get to know Nilspire Me in more detail during a Speeddate.
The project had a great success. Especially AYAs came to our table to learn more, but also to give extra tips for additional tools. There was great enthusiasm for our project. AYAs indicated that they would definitely use the tool. They found it important that all the information became available in one application, but also that it did not become a purely medical application. They can really make it their own thing and that is cool!
After the speed date, a poll was organised in the room. And what transpired? Nilspire Me came second out of the 14 projects present in this survey, which gauged the desire to get started with the project. Asbl SuperNils can therefore be proud! Nilspire Me will put our organisation on the map and immediately make our interactive packages better known. But above all, we are doing the right things to support AYAs with cancer!!!

Our podcast
No further information
Currently, all our attention is focused on Nilspire Me, finishing started projects and optimising cooperation with our hospitals. A lot of time is already creeping into that, so we have to put the podcast on hold for a while.
This certainly does not mean that the project will be discarded! We will definitely revisit it in the near future.

In the print below, you get an overview of the different tools that will be integrated into the web application.
The Purple Panda people are already way ahead of schedule with development, which means we can start testing soon. We will do this with people from the non-profit organisation SuperNils, but also Casa Callenta and especially AYAs from the KOTK, FLAYA and Kickcancer sounding board group.
Nilspire Me is an application for and BY AYAs. After all, they help think about the content and their needs. Together we will create an application that can be used for FREE throughout Belgium (also available in French and English, and later possibly Arabic). We are definitely still looking for a partner (Sidekick) who believes in the project and wants to take on the recurring costs (DPO, GDPR, maintenance, debugging, ...).
SuperNils online studio
The project is running like clockwork. The people at LuKiArt asbl have already finished the first of the 4 planned films. Nils explains how to draw a human figure. Step by step, you learn how to draw a cute boy or girl yourself.
Clear films, clear explanations and even with subtitles in Dutch and French. So everyone can easily follow and enjoy these online workshops.
Soon we will also purchase the drawing materials that we will distribute in the hospitals, so that patients will have everything at hand to draw and create with Nils.

10 October 2026 should definitely be noted in your diaries with STIP!
Nils passed away 10 years on that day. So a day to once again highlight our son and his great ideas. Therefore, there will be a memorial and benefit concert organised in the hall of PITO Stabroek, the school where Nils earned one of his degrees.
You will be able to enjoy the beautiful music of Bart Van Heffen and his wife Veerle. Bart was one of Nils' teachers, a man Nils looked up to and had a very good relationship with. Further Tine De Voecht, cover band singer Think Twice sing some songs. We got to know Tine during the first Christmas market in Temse, an event whose proceeds went to the non-profit organisation SuperNils.
During the performances, you will be shown a slideshow with great memories about Nils and the workings of its SuperNils.
The concert promises to be a pleasant evening, where you can enjoy the music over a delicious drink. After the performances, we will even provide a DJ, who will liven up the rest of the evening, so you don't have to go home right away.
Cards will from second half of August 2026 be available on sale. Be quick as seats in the hall are obviously limited. Those who cannot attend can also always buy a support ticket to further support Nils' work.
We'll see you then ... on 10 October 2026 in Stabroek!
