Meike De Roest is an AYA herself, but above all a theatre maker and podcaster. This year, she wrote and created the performance ‘Lifeline’ about her experience with cancer and type 1 diabetes.
‘Lifeline’ is mainly about the impact of getting sick as a twenty-something, and the quest of living with/after an illness.
Meike would like to invite you to the upcoming performances in February 2026:
> 2 February 2026 at the Broed Festival in corso, Antwerp (more info)
> 28 February 2026 at KVS, Brussels (more info)
More information and photos from the performance, you can check out Meike's website. To do so, click on the pictures above.
Meike also has a podcast ‘Bald is also a haircut’?
She made this one six years ago just after she was cured of cancer.
On 4 February, World Cancer Day, she launches yet another new podcast: ‘I used to be immortal’.
In it, she has intimate conversations with young guests about their experience of illness. The first interviews are already impressive: about motherhood and terminal cancer, the mental dip that came only years after the physical crash, and stories about other (chronic) illnesses or disabilities.

All worthwhile and super interesting for AYAs with cancer.
