Expansion of memberships
Vzw SuperNils is immensely proud to announce that 71 members are currently already signed up for 2025. That's already 12 more than in 2024. All are people who have made a donation to our organisation and have expressed their desire to become members free of charge in order to have a voice in the general assembly.
To all these people ... a big thank you!
If everyone tries to bring in 1 more member from the family circle, colleagues or friends then non-profit organisation SuperNils will become really big! Who will try?

Our podcast

Project operation

Our "Wings of Hope" information folder coming soon
Received word that the "Wings of Hope" folders have been printed and will be delivered. It concerns a first edition of 500 folders (thanks to the General Manager of VLEEMO, Mr David Daggelinckx), which we will distribute in three hospitals (UZ Gent, ZAS Cadix and AZ Delta Roeselare). They can then be evaluated so that we can make adjustments here and there. From next year, we then want to distribute the folders more widely in all our partner hospitals.
At the general membership meeting, we will be happy to show an example of this beautiful folder, which should become a real gadget.

VR package runs like a train
Venar from 's Gravenwezel is working incredibly hard to get our Vr boxes ready in time (thanks to Youssef Chatar and Steven Wensel). Currently, test phases are already running at UZ Leuven, AZ Klina and ZAS Cadix. Soon, UZ Gent and AZ Delta will be added. From these experiences and the feedback we receive, the programme can be adjusted and refined here and there. At the end of August 2025, we then want to officially launch the programme in our partner hospitals, in the presence of the press, members of the RVB and people from the Foundation against Cancer.
At that point, patients can already: watch 360° films, look up information, play a game and meet peers.
During the spring and summer months, we will be shooting additional 360° films, so the range will already be a bit wider. The project will continue to evolve over the years.

Expanding movement package
Our movement box is already being used in 6 partner hospitals. Due to the expansion of our partners, we are currently short of movement cases. Therefore, we are requesting a budget through Levensloop Schoten to expand the number of cases so that we can also give our new partner hospitals such a case.

Cancer, dance for your mental boost
A new project by non-profit organisation SuperNils and MOSA Ballet School Liege, financed through project funds from Foundation Against Cancer. The project started in January 2025 and will be realised in several phases. It should be completely finished by the end of 2026.
Phase 1: films of ballet classes that will be shown on the website. Patients are instructed by teachers and can move along from their beds or seats.
Phase 2: films of ballet classes, shot with a 360° camera and integrated into the VR package. Patients stand among the ballet dancers and participate with them, from their bed or seat.
Phase 3: Tutors from MOSA come to the hospital to move to music with patients.
This project will mainly be followed up for non-profit organisation SuperNils by Linda Baclaine, project leader and herself a ballet teacher at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp.
VENAR will take care of the 360° shooting and integration into the VR environment.
Project funds were again received from Foundation Against Cancer, for which thanks!

In the spotlight

General membership meeting 19 March 2025
On Wednesday 19 March 2025, our general membership meeting will take place. This year we chose a beautiful location in our own municipality, Kalmthout. The meeting will take place at the Strijboshof, Achterbroeksteenweg in Kalmthout. There is ample free parking near the building. Hopefully we will be able to welcome many of our members there.
On the agenda are the following items: the new policy plan 2025, evaluation of the 2024 operation, the 2024 annual accounts, the 2025 budget, status of our projects and, as icing on the cake, "presentation of the VR project on a big screen". Worthwhile in the meantime!
Moreover, our members also have the chance to propose new projects and help further draw future lines.

Help requested

Knitting hats and scarves for charity
The non-profit organisation SuperNils is still looking for volunteers to knit hats and scarves for our charity. We did receive bags full of wool scraps already, which can be processed. We should have several dozen hats and scarves by the end of August 2025. We will label these with a leather SuperNils label, then sell them for charity (Levensloop) and afterwards also through our own webshop. Are you handy with knitting needles and wool? And do you have a bit of time? Then please help us make this happen. Submit your name via robert.scheltjens@supernils.be.
