Levensloop Schoten 2024
It was a beautiful edition of Levensloop Schoten. In the wonderful setting of Schoten's beautiful park, around the famous castle, many people were again able to enjoy performances, tasty snacks and drinks and cool entertainment for young and old. It started with the opening ceremony, in which the participating partners were introduced. Saturday evening then followed the emotional candle lighting ceremony, in which everyone paused to reflect on a loved one who is fighting cancer or has lost the battle. The beautiful ceremony was organised by Leona Koninckx, secretary of vzw SuperNils and organising member of Levensloop Schoten. And were we proud of her! On Sunday afternoon, there was then the closing ceremony, the finale of an emotional but valuable 24 hours.
Levensloop Schoten raised €51619.00 this year, money that will be donated to the Foundation Against Cancer for, among other things, scientific research and the support of projects of organisations such as non-profit organisation SuperNils.
The brand-new CEO of Foundation Against Cancer, Koen Van Impe, paid a visit to the organisation. It became his first official appearance. And what was more ... he also came especially to the stand of vzw SuperNils, to get acquainted with our VR project. Nice for us, but certainly important also for possible future collaborations and new projects.
During Levensloop Schoten, a signed jersey of Peter Genyn, wheelchair athlete and medallist at the Paralympic Games in Paris, was also auctioned. Peter is an ambassador of vzw SuperNils and symbolises willpower and perseverance, both also very important for our patients. The jersey raised € 108.00. Thank you Peter for this lovely donation and congratulations again for the wonderful performance in Paris!
Tax certificates
In 2024, sponsors and people who make a donation of 40 euros or more will receive a tax certificate. The certificate will be processed immediately in the tax return, provided we know the donor's national register number. This is a new obligation by the government, to be able and allowed to issue tax certificates.
Currently, our accountant is preparing for approval to issue tax certificates in 2025 and 2026. The necessary paperwork has been submitted. Now we are waiting for the round of inspections (financial and social). Fingers crossed that this evolves positively for our organisation.

Currently, operations around the podcast are at a standstill as we are busy with numerous other projects. In the future, we will definitely revive this important online platform, especially as we are getting enquiries around it and positive feedback on the already existing episodes.
Just a little more patience, then.
Project operation
LEGO to relax ...
From the start of our operation, we have received support from LEGO. Every year, they deliver several pallets of beautiful LEGO material, which until now has been used in our goodie bags for children. We were thus already able to make many children and young people happy with a wonderful gift, with which they could relax and clear their minds.
Now that we no longer work with goodie bags (the SuperNilsdays), but focus 100 % on working with interactive boxes, we want to use the LEGO sponsorship we received in a different way, one that will allow us to reach even more children and young people. The LEGO boxes will be packaged as gift boxes for children and AYAs, who spend longer periods of time in hospital. They will then get a LEGO box to play with and relax. The box will become their property.
Initially, we wanted to make LEGO boxes that could go from one room to another. However, hygiene issues made this impossible.
To put together the gift packages, we can count on the help of the employees of international pharmaceutical company Servier, based in Anderlecht. Even the General Manager will come to lend a hand on 15 October. On that day, Robert Scheltjens will introduce the operation and necessity of non-profit organisation SuperNils in the company and the employees will help to wrap and label the gifts. That way, patients will always know that the gift is offered by SuperNils, with sponsorship from LEGO and logistical support from Servier. This company organises this activity during their Patient Awareness Week, a week that highlights the importance of patient work and patient organisations. It is great that SuperNils can be part of this.

° Motion case (rounded).
° Engineering case (completed).
° VR project with SuperNils environment, own Avatar, 360° movies, movement game, information tower and possibility to interact with fellow sufferers (ongoing and in test phase). The launch of this project was made possible thanks to generous project funds from Foundation Against Cancer.
° VR project with MOSA Ballet School Liege, in which we will encourage patients to dance and move to music. Interaction with peers will also be possible (project application has been submitted to Foundation Against Cancer).
° Story pack, where patients are asked to write a story about SuperNils. The impetus is given in a short film, in which our mascot finds a treasure map and starts digging up various covers.
° LEGO gift packs for children and AYAs with cancer.
° Mental Boost Folders: folders full of useful information on organisations and associations that can provide support, as well as administrative info on support measures, work and school, Bednet, etc. VLEEMO (Windmill Company from Antwerp) is currently looking at how they can support this project. For this, SuperNils will also contact FLAYA, an organisation for AYAs that has also developed such a box. This way, we can work complementarily for young adults and additionally for children and their parents.
