Important news items

Articles of association were approved
The new articles of association, as discussed at our general meeting, were approved by the company court on 14 June 2024 and can be accessed on their website from now on.
The new RVB was incorporated into these bylaws and so confirmed: Robert Scheltjens (chairman); Jorn Scheltjens (vice-chairman), Leona Koninckx (secreatary); Chelsea Roelandt (financial advice); Tessa Kerre (medical advice); Kris Marchi (director); Jan Da Costa (director) and Jan-Baptist De Smedt (director).
The new operation, membership fee and tax certificates were also included in the documents.

Tax certificates
The tax certificates for memberships and donations made in 2023, have been processed by the accountant in the tax return. We may again issue tax certificates in 2024. NOTE: we can only do this again if we have received the donor's national register number. Without this information, the government no longer allows us to issue certificates. Please take this into account. If it has not happened yet, please give your number to Robert Scheltjens asap. This is also possible by phone, if you prefer not to put the details on mail. The number will only be used for issuing tax certificates and will not be shared with others.
Our accountant started the process of applying for the next two years. After a thorough inspection and evaluation, we hope to issue certificates in 2025-2026 as well.

Our podcast

Podcast Servier
On Thursday 4 July 2024, Robert Scheltjens went to Sint-Genesius-Rode to record a professional podcast about non-profit organisation SuperNils, its origins, how and why and how it works. The recording will take place in a professional studio, accompanied by a journalist. The project is paid for by pharmaceutical giant Servier. The podcast is part of their LEA project, but will also be available to listen to via our website.
This project is already raising the profile and visibility of our organisation. Thank you "Servier"!

Project operation

Movement project
The movement project was evaluated by the people from the partner hospitals. The feedback was positive, the cases and materials are used effectively. It is mainly the physiotherapists who guide the movements, but here and there the patients also get the chance to work with the materials individually (which was our initial intention).
The evaluation was mapped out by Leona Koninckx. Next, we will order additional materials and suitcases, within the remaining budget of Foundation Against Cancer (Lifetime Grant 2023). We will of course take the evaluation, comments, questions and needs into account. The orders may therefore differ from one hospital to another. In this way, we work to suit each partner. We may already include our new partner hospitals (within target group children and AYAs) in this second round, depending on the budget.
By the end of the summer holidays, the project will be completed and the orders should be distributed. The final report for Foundation Against Cancer will then be prepared and sent out.
Of course, the project does not stop then. The hospitals can continue to use the materials indefinitely. And we are also going to continue to follow it up.

DWW 2024
The time has come again! Projects for Warmest Week 2024 may be submitted (deadline in early September). Theme for this year is "loneliness", a theme that certainly fits within our operation and target group.
We are therefore already in talks with HO West, University College in West Flanders, to develop a website with an application that should be able to put patients in touch with fellow sufferers or volunteers who want to visit, have a chat, offer a listening ear, play a party game, etc. Hence, non-profit organisation SuperNils wants to develop a volunteer operation across all partner hospitals. Cooperation with colleges (students and lecturers), rest and care homes and volunteers from our own organisation will have a place in this.
The idea is still premature, but will take more and more shape and substance within the next few weeks. Hopefully, we will then be able to submit a nice initiative to DWW 2024 by the end of August.

In the spotlight

New project approved
Asbl SuperNils submitted a new project to Foundation Against Cancer, within the portfolio of the Levensloop Grants 2024 (Levensloop Schoten). The project is called "Avatar SuperNils knows it all" and is an extension of our VR project. The concept should provide patients, loved ones and interested parties with the necessary information to questions they struggle with and sometimes do not dare to ask their doctor, or have difficulty asking.
Answers are given by specialists (doctors, nurses, psychologists, etc.) in a short film or powerpoint presentation. Everything must remain low-threshold and respect patients' privacy. The project has a cost of 9717 euros and was granted the full amount by Foundation Against Cancer, for which huge thanks!
Development of the project is currently underway, within the larger VR project. Company Venar will create a beautiful location within the SuperNils environment, within which one can then find the info.

Help requested

Lifetime Schoten 7-8 September 2024
For this Life Walk, we are still looking for volunteers to help Leona run the candle ceremony. Preparing bags, cleaning up the material, dressing up the memorial tent, ... are tasks that need to be done.
Anyone who would like to come and help is best to contact Leona directly, to make further arrangements, at leona.koninckx@supernils.be. Thanks in advance!!!
So Vzw SuperNils sits with Leona in organising this important event of Foundation Against Cancer. In this way, we try to give something back for the great support we receive from Foundation Against Cancer for the development of our projects.

Lifetime Schoten 7-8 September 2024 - team SUPERNILS
Team SuperNils is still looking for participants, who want to come and walk, run, step for our team in the beautiful park of Schoten. One hour of walking is more than enough. Try to take either a time slot during the day or at night. Because yes, even then there will be walking in the park. This is then done on a beautifully lit trail. Before and after the walk, there is time for a chat, a drink or a tasty snack. You can buy a cup of fresh fruit at SuperNils'. Because yes, of course we go for healthy food during this event.
Participating costs just 10 euros per person. But by doing so, you support the wonderful work of the Foundation Against Cancer. An organisation that, in turn, supports SuperNils' work through beautiful project funds. Quickly click on the adjacent logo and sign up for team SuperNils.
Can't come and walk, but want to sponsor? You can do that too, via the same link. Definitely do it!
