Our general membership meeting 2024
On Wednesday 13 March 2024, starting at 7pm, our general membership meeting will take place. We once again chose the Prins Kavelhof in Brasschaat as the venue. All our 2024 members are welcome and have the right to vote at the meeting. Those who cannot come can always give a proxy to another member. PLEASE NOTE: each member may only bring 1 proxy. You can also still become a member at the start of the meeting. Your donation can then be deposited via Payconiq.
The following items are already on the extended agenda: evaluation of the operating year 2023 / annual accounts 2023 and discharge of directors / presentation of new business plan 2024 / budget 2024 / status of projects / new cooperation with MOSA Balletschool / new statutes of the organisation / work moment - thinking about volunteers in our organisation

SuperNils joins the organisation of Levensloop Schoten
Leona Koninckx and Robert Scheltjens have joined the organisation of Levensloop Schoten. Leona will handle the candle ceremony, one of the most emotional moments of the event. Robert, together with Werner Beckers, will take on the animation (welcoming the performing groups, making sure everything fits together properly, etc.). Very soon, we will meet with the other committee members for handover and more explanations.
Of course, vzw SuperNils will also participate in this event as a team. So we are looking for runners/walkers for on the trail and volunteers to help in SuperNils' stand (we will be selling fresh fruit salad) and in placing the candle bags.

Our podcast

Collaboration imminent ...
Elke Stienissen of Lymphoma Cancer Association Flanders is going to create a Flemish and French-language podcast around healthcare provider-patient communication. Abbvie (Pharma) wants to help support this project.
Professor Kerre of UZ Gent and Professor Schoemans of UZ Leuven have already agreed to participate. Robert Scheltjens of vzw SuperNils will help brainstorm on possible questions and topics, which could be addressed.
Of course, we will link to this useful podcast episode(s) from our website.

Project operation

Motion cases have been launched
The movement cases were officially launched at the UZA - children's department. Everyone could witness this moment during a broadcast by ATV (Antwerp Television). The people from the Foundation against Cancer and Levensloop were present at this. And they saw that it was good.
The cases are now being actively deployed in our six partner hospitals. We will soon receive the necessary feedback and be able to fine-tune and add to the material.
Big thanks in advance to Foundation Against Cancer for the lovely Lifetime Grant, which made this project possible.

VR project ... development has now really started
In November 2023, a Social Grant from Foundation Against Cancer was approved for the VR project of non-profit organisation SuperNils. With these pennies, we were going to develop a SuperNils environment with all kinds of integrated tools, with which patients from our target group could relax. Steven and Youssef of Venar from 's Gravenwezel have already done a handsome job at the moment. They developed a beautiful SuperNils environment, which can be viewed through VR glasses. At the General Assembly on 13 March 2024, you will be able to get acquainted with it. VR glasses will be available for you to try.
Other projects will then be introduced within this environment. For instance, there will be a possibility to watch 360° films, it will be possible to interact with fellow sufferers, there will be a movement game and an information tool will be integrated. For this last application, we have already submitted a new Levensloop grant to the Foundation against Cancer - Levensloop Schoten.

SuperNils Technique case
Thanks to a great collaboration with Fyxxi-Lab from Ghent (Educentrum), we have been able to offer a technology kit at the paediatric and adolescent departments of the UZA and UZ Gent. UZ Leuven will come later.
The cases contain all kinds of materials to experiment with: robotics materials, LEGO, Ipad, ... all things to learn while playing and, above all, to relax and take your mind off things.

In the spotlight

Life 2024 - Schoten
It is still a while away, but the organisation is already in full swing!
During the weekend of 7 and 8 September 2024, vzw SuperNils, together with many other organisations, will be present in the beautiful park of Schoten. Around the Castle, many participants will again step, walk and run for 24 hours. Of course, you don't have to walk for 24 hours at a stretch! It's allowed, of course, but if you come to exercise for 1 hour, we'll already be hugely satisfied. We will then try to schedule everyone in succession, so SuperNils will be on the course for 24 hours. So we are also looking for NIGHT walkers, who come to enjoy the lit trail right through the park. For those with cancer, the suffering never stops ... which is why we don't stop walking or running during Levensloop!
Registration for team SuperNils is already possible from now on. It costs only 10 euros per participant and you support the research of the Foundation Against Cancer with it. Don't hesitate, definitely do it! Click on the Levensloop logo and register now.
