Renewing membership 2024
Dear members of vzw SuperNils, the new year has been a while in the making. High time, therefore, to put the 2024 membership back in order. As you know, the membership itself is free, for people who make a donation of 40 euros or more and indicate their wish to become a member. For this donation, you can receive a tax certificate. Don't forget to fill in your details afterwards, including the national register number. That way, we can easily complete the administration for the tax certificates.
Why is membership so important to us and to you? An organisation with many members gets more respect from government and companies, which makes obtaining funding easier. Moreover, you have your own vote in the general assembly of members and are therefore at the wheel of our organisation.
Be sure to bring your membership in order BEFORE 4 March 2024. Then you can definitely still participate in the 2024 general meeting.

National registry number
There are still some people who have not provided their national register number. This number is important for the administration of tax certificates.
So please put it in order as soon as possible. This can be done by sending an e-mail to robert.scheltjens@supernils.be or by phone on 0475/31 85 70 (if you prefer not to put the number on the e-mail).
Please know that the number is only used for the administration around tax certificates. It will never be passed on to third parties without prior written consent.

The Warmest Week 2023
Warmest Week 2023 raised many pennies. For non-profit organisation SuperNils, it means a sum of 44,250.00 euros, which will be deposited in the account. We may use it for our VR project. It will be used to develop a movement game, in which children/young people have to knock out "confused" cells (cancer cells) with a padel racket. The game will eventually be playable in different levels (slow and few cells to faster and many cells coming from everywhere). The hospitals are already enthusiastic and they hope to start using the project as soon as possible.

New cooperation ... across the language border!
Asbl SuperNils will collaborate with dance school MOSA from Liège. Together, we will develop the project "From cancer to dancer". Linda Baclaine will be very closely involved in this, as project leader.
What can we expect from this project?
- Dance teachers explain to patients via videos. They can move along with the teacher from their room, in the armchair, in bed or on a chair. Simple materials, such as ribbons, can be used. Materials, videos and music list are delivered via the website and a "dance box".
- Patients can dance along in a real ballet class via VR. MOSA takes patients' limitations into account.
- Patients can dance together with peers via VR, in a virtual environment and guided by a teacher.
- Patients can also work on the videos on the website at home.
This is a social project, in which we use dance as a means to clear one's mind and forget about being ill for a while. Everyone should be able to participate, free of charge.

Motion cases are launched
Currently, the movement kits are being rolled out in the 6 partner hospitals. We are getting a lot of praise from the hospitals about this project. Physiotherapists will start working with our materials and will be happy to provide feedback. That way, we can fine-tune the content of the cases, supplement them and possibly create additional cases. This replenishment will happen in June 2024. This will complete the project and thus implement it.
However, the cases will continue to move. That means we will continue to monitor and add to them, over the coming years.
"These materials will encourage our patients to exercise," said the chiné at AZ Delta in Roeselare. So very useful project!

Our podcast

No new episodes for a while ...
But of course, the episodes already made can still be listened to, via the website, Apple Podcast and Spotify. Definitely highly recommended!

Project operation

What are we betting on, in 2024?
In 2024, we will especially build the VR project solidly. There should be a beautiful VR environment, with a real SuperNils avatar. Patients should be able to walk around in the environment, watch films, connect with peers and family members, get information and play a movement game.
Here is the link to the first draft of our SuperNils-VR environment: click on the print here.
Furthermore, we will start and work out the collaboration with MOSA Ballet School.
The SuperNils Days should be reshaped so that we can reach more patients throughout Belgium. At the general members' meeting, we will consider this together with the members present. So please attend in large numbers!
