Important news items
Website available in three languages
From now on, our website is available in three languages, namely Dutch, French and English. In this way, we aim to reach more patients and interested parties. Moreover, it allows us to expand our working area to the entire country and possibly even far beyond.
To change the language, click on the little flag in the top right corner (next to "contact").
Time to renew your membership
The new year is already several weeks old. High time, then, to renew or create your membership. Our members have already received a letter with the necessary links. Some have already responded positively, for which many thanks!
Members give a donation of at least 40 euros and mention that they want to become additional members of our organisation, free of charge. That way, they can help think about our operations and new ambitions. They receive the monthly newsletter and can actively participate in the general members' meeting in March.
You can become a member via the link below. It is best to do it before 1 March 2024, so you can be sure to participate in the important general meeting. You will also receive a tax certificate for your donation.

National registry number
Our members and donors received a letter asking them to provide their national register number. We need this information to prepare and issue tax certificates.
The data will be kept in our records and will not be used for any other purpose. This is also stated as such in our privacy agreement. People who prefer not to provide the number should know that a tax certificate cannot then be issued for the donations made.
Participation survey interest patient associations
Vzw SuperNils is collaborating on a study on the importance of patient organisations and patient participation in healthcare in Belgium.
The research is coordinated by the King Baudouin Foundation, VPP, RadiOrg, LUSS, PEC and Trefpunt Zelfhulp.
The aim of the research project is to arrive at policy recommendations supported by the sector and actors in the field.
Possible subsidisation of patient organisations may be the result of this research. Important enough, therefore, to participate in this.
There are currently four actions, two of which are already over: a digital survey and a first meeting in Brussels. Two more meetings will follow soon, each time with 20 organisations from Flanders and about 15 from Wallonia.
Policy plan 2024
The 2024 policy plan is currently being prepared and developed.
It will be a combination of the achievements in 2023 and the new ambitions for 2024.
The plan will first be reviewed and refined within the Board of Directors (February) and our Heart and Mind advisory group (February). After fine-tuning, it will be presented at the general meeting in March 2024.
During the general meeting, active cooperation will be sought from members (via small think tanks). In this way, certain ambitions and/or changes in operation will take concrete shape.
Our podcast
Podcast on hold ...
Recordings of new podcast episodes are still on-hold. We are far too busy with other projects at the moment. The already recorded podcasts will of course remain available to listen to, via our website, Spotify and Apple Podcast.
Soon, podcasts from other organisations will also be available to listen to. Of course, only if they fit within our own objectives.
Project operation
Projects are running well !
1° Within a few weeks, our movement project will be launched in the 6 partner hospitals. The final developments will happen now and then the package will be ready for use. After an evaluation within a few months, additional cases will then be distributed to the hospitals that show interest.
2° The technology case is ready for launch. Just some minor adjustments and arrangements with Fyxxi Lab from Ghent and then they can be put into use. We will start in the 3 paediatric onco-haematology departments (UZA, UZ Gent and UZ Leuven).
3° The story package has been worked out. However, the film shoot can only happen in spring when there is more sunshine. After that, the package will be launched very soon.
4° The VR package will start its development process on Friday 19 January. First, a SuperNils environment will be created, with its own SuperNils avatar. After that, a motion game will be integrated and 360° movies will still be shot. Launch is scheduled for late 2024, early 2025.

In the spotlight
New collaboration on the horizon !
On Monday 22 January 2024, our president will go to Liège, to visit the MOSA-Ballet-School. We may start working with this school, as a function of their "From cancer to dancer" project.
We are thinking of opportunities within our VR project and motion project.
This cooperation also immediately takes our organisation across the language border, which is important for further expanding our target group.
Wondering what this collaboration will bring in concrete terms? You will hear more about it at the general meeting.
Volunteer work launched
Vzw SuperNils launched its first volunteer operation in Berendrecht. Some ladies will crochet/knit hats, scarves and SuperNils dolls. These items will soon be for sale through the webshop.
This additional income will be used to further realise our projects.
Help requested
Levensloop Schoten 2024
Vzw SuperNils is back participating in this Life Walk in Schoten's beautiful park.
The dates are fixed and last year's comments were taken into account. We will now go Levenslopen on 7 and 8 September 2024, bypassing the start of the new school year somewhat.
Of course, we cannot participate without an active, sporty team of volunteers with a SuperNils heart. So hurry over to the Schoten Levensloop website and sign up for team SuperNils. We will again try to cover the 24 hours and be constantly present on the course. It succeeded in 2023, it should also succeed in this beautiful year.
